Ram Debuts New 1500 Rebel Mojave Sand, 1500 Ignition Orange Sport Editions

2017 Ram 1500 Rebel Mojave Sand Edition

Fiat Chrysler knows how to do special editions, and it’s putting that know-how to work with a pair of new Ram 1500 models going on sale at the end of this year. The first, the 1500 Rebel Mojave Sand, is an extension of the regular off-road-oriented 1500 Rebel, while the other, the 1500 Ignition Orange Sport, is a remake of a Ram model last offered for 2015.

Ram 1500 Rebel Mojave Sand

Today’s Ram Rebel, the off-road special, offers many desirable attributes, but subtlety isn’t among them. Of the handful of paint color options, there is a bright red, a black, a white, and a somewhat reserved dark gray, while the interior can be had in a black-and-bright-red color burst. So if you were looking at a Ram Rebel but wanted something more subdued, your chariot has arrived. The Mojave Sand package, a $ 595 add-on to any 1500 Rebel, brings a sweet Mojave Sand paint color—it is exclusive to this package—and pairs it with an all-black interior scheme. Ram also throws in a matte-black hood stripe that, thanks largely to the muted body color, actually looks good, as well as gray contrast stitching for the seats and dashboard and a set of rubber floor mats. Only 1500 examples will be produced, each starting at $ 46,910; four-wheel drive will cost an extra $ 2100.

Ram 1500 Ignition Orange Sport

Just like the ’90s tag line for that orange drink from the ’60s, Tang, you could say that the 1500 Ignition Orange Sport model is a kick in the mouth. Or the eyes. Resurrecting the Ram special edition by the same name that was introduced in 2015, the Ignition Orange Sport adds that zany orange paint, black hood graphics, a “sport performance hood,” blacked-out exterior trim, and black-colored wheels. Inside, there is orange (Copperhead, per Ram) stitching on the seats and other interior bits, orange-painted trim, orange-colored seat panels, and orange-colored ram’s-head logos on the headrests. If the Mojave Sand represents a subtler take on the Ram 1500 theme, the Ignition Orange Sport most definitely goes in a different direction. Based on the crew-cab 1500 with the V-8, the über-orange Ram starts at $ 45,060 and also is limited to 1500 units.
