Driving The Hollywood Dream: Cars For Movie Buffs

Love driving? Love movies? Then why not consider buying one of your favorite cars from the big screen. From the best of Bond to something Fast and Furious, here are our picks for anybody wanting to live and drive the Hollywood dream!

#1: The Aston Martin DB5 (Goldfinger)

Sean Connery is possibly the best Bond of all, and the 1964 movie Goldfinger is probably the best Bond film of all time. Should you agree, you might want to drive around in (and sorry for repeating ourselves) one of the best Bond cars of all time. Sure, it may not have the bells and whistles that Bond had, so no machine guns, smoke screens, or ejector seats, but you can still add some of the latest technology to the car, even if it doesn’t necessarily help you in a fight against the bad guys. For extra effect, you might also play the Bond soundtrack using your in-car sound system, and drive around as if you were actually Bond himself!

Cost: You’re looking at around $450k for something that looks like the original, so you might need to start saving now (or rob a gold reserve if you’re Blofeld).

#2: The Porsche 996 GT3 RS (Fast Five)

Inexplicably, the Fast and the Furious series is one of the longest running action franchises ever, and with more movies announced in the series, these films aren’t going to run out of fuel just yet. If you’re a fan, you have a wealth of cars to choose from, but the Porsche 996 is one of the more stylish cars in the series. If, like in the movie, you’re willing to take on a road race in Rio, then go for it, but if your opponent is shiny-domed Vin Diesel,  then you may want to think again. Although remember that street racing isn’t entirely legal, so while a police chase might look good in the movies, it won’t serve you well in the real world.

Cost: You’re looking at around about $128k, so you might want to offer up a few pink slips if you want to buy this beauty.

#3: Volkswagen Beetle (The Love Bug)

Okay, so we have shifted down a gear here, and while Herbie the lovable Volkswagen did win quite a few races during his time in Hollywood, this is one car that isn’t necessarily for speed freaks. You might not look as cool either, but for something reliable, and ever so cute, we highly recommend this little beauty. You could go the modern variant, all of which are lovely to drive, but purist should stick to the 1960’s original. While it won’t self-drive (hint: Herbie was a fictional character), you can still pretend you’re driving the real thing by sticking a no. 53 decal on the front so you can imagine you’re driving the real thing. Just be sure to get it serviced at your nearest Volkswagen service centre, as while oldies may be goldies, but they are still liable to break down.

Cost: You’re looking at around $9,500k, so while it isn’t the fast car to relive your Hollywood dreams, it’s most certainly one of the cheapest.

So, what do you think? Have we mentioned your favorite car, or are there any other Hollywood scene-stealers that have stolen your heart? Be sure to let us know!
